Medhakeli is a learning game for children aged 2 to 9, used with a parent. This policy describes what the app actually does with information. Every claim here was checked against the code, not written from intention.
Medhakeli works completely without an account and without a network connection. If you never create a parent account, nothing your child does ever leaves your device. There is no advertising, no data selling, and no tracking profile. Your child’s drawings never leave the device at all.
If you use Medhakeli without an account — the default
Nothing is transmitted. Your child’s nickname, progress, stars, badges, drawings, room and character are stored only in the app’s own storage on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
If a parent creates an account
An account exists for one reason: so a family’s progress survives a lost phone and can be shared across two devices. We then store:
- Your email address, and a hashed password. We cannot read your password.
- Your subscription state — free, trial, or Pro.
- Your children’s profiles, restricted to a nickname, an age band (2–3, 4–6, 7–9), a chosen language, a chosen character, and timestamps.
- Learning progress — which skills have been attempted and how often.
- Rewards — stars, badges, purchased room items, room layout.
- Accessibility and audio settings, so a child’s setup follows them between devices.
We do not collect a child’s real name, date of birth, exact age, photograph, address or phone number. The server enforces this with an allow-list, so a bug in the app cannot start sending more than the list permits.
What is never uploaded, even with an account
- Your child’s drawings — artwork stays on the device that made it, and the server refuses to accept it
- Your Parent Zone PIN — it is hashed and never leaves the device
- Downloaded voice pack files — the audio itself stays on the device and the server has nowhere to put it. Which packs you have is not uploaded either, with one exception: if you switch on anonymous usage data below, the “download succeeded” event carries the pack name, and nothing else about it
Optional, anonymous usage data
A parent may switch on anonymous usage data in Parent Zone → Your data. It is off unless you turn it on, and the app can only ever record eight events: parent onboarded, profile created, game opened, game completed, download succeeded, app crashed, subscription started, subscription restored.
Each event carries at most an age band, a language, a world name, a star count, a number of rounds, a pack name, a screen name or a plan name. The code carries an explicit list of things that can never be attached — nickname, name, email, age, date of birth, photo, address, location, device identifier, advertising identifier, IP address, phone number — and a test enforces it. Timestamps are rounded to the hour, so a sequence of events cannot be used to reconstruct your household’s routine.
What Medhakeli never does
- No advertising. Version 1 ships with advertising disabled entirely; there is no ad SDK in the build
- No advertising or tracking identifiers — the Android Advertising ID is never read
- No location, microphone, camera or contacts — these permissions are never requested
- No third-party analytics, attribution or crash SDK
- No purchases reachable by a child — every price and purchase button sits behind the Parent Gate, and a test enforces that for every screen in the app
- No chat, comments, sharing or social sign-in for children
Payments
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play Billing. We never see your card details. We receive only whether an entitlement is active and which plan it is.
Where data is stored, and for how long
Account data is held on servers operated by Railway, in an encrypted-at-rest database reachable only over HTTPS. It is kept while the account exists.
You can delete your account in Parent Zone → Your data → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: the parent record and every synced record are removed, and the app tells you how many rows were deleted rather than simply claiming success. There is no soft delete and no backup restore of deleted accounts.
You can also clear everything locally, with or without an account, in Parent Zone → Your data → Clear data on this device.
Children’s privacy
Medhakeli is intended for children under 13, used with a parent. It is built to Google Play’s Families policy and designed with COPPA and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code in mind: data collection is the minimum needed for the app to work, anonymous usage data is off by default, there is no behavioural advertising, and every adult surface sits behind a Parent Gate a young child cannot pass.
